Seams to Me

You are looking for Big – Bold - Beautiful!

When we look out our windows this time of year, it is so refreshing to see the grass turning green, and the leaves on the trees begin to burst forth in fresh green tones. The birds are chirping and going crazy at the feeders. The flowers are popping out of the ground, and we want to see what is going on out there. Looking through our windows can give us a fresh outlook on life.  What do you see?  Are there tired looking window treatments on your glass obstructing your view?

Many of my clients are out for a Big – Bold – Beautiful look in their homes, encouraging the outdoors to come in. Here are some of my suggestions:  HunterDouglas has a beautiful new 4-1/2” Summerwinds Shutter, and a 4” Silhouette Shade available for just that look, expanding our visibility to the outdoors. New fabric samples of sheers and soft fabrics are arriving daily that can provide a beautiful looking window treatment, framing the view to the outdoors. So, what about your view?  What is obstructing it?  Let me help you by giving you a Big – Bold – Beautiful look out your windows so you can enjoy the nature outside going on around you!

• I’m excited to announce that Kasia has set the date for her CD Release Concert, All of Me, for You, Friday, May 14 at 7:30 p.m. Many of you have been asking and looking forward to this. She has some special things planned, along with a new song. Her humble nature worries that no one will be there. The lyrics from her songs shows her heart of love and spirit of wanting to give God all the glory and do what is right. Please join us at Rehoboth Christian Reformed Church in Bowmanville, located at 130 Scugog Street in Bowmanville. Tamara is thrilled to provide the baked goods and refreshments for the evening.  Free admission.  See you there!

• In preparation for Kasia’s concert, we have recently changed our Living Room over into a Music Room. All the furniture, hutches, tables and chairs have been moved into Dining Room area, and the piano, keyboard, drum set and microphone is now in the Living Room area, with the bay window as a backdrop. Good thing, cause once they get going, the windows get open, and the wildlife all enjoy a free concert too.  Now I can enjoy listening to the kids play and practice while doing the dishes – I LOVE IT!

•It’s great to clean up the lawn and gardens.  All of us spent some time on Saturday at Mom’s cleaning up her yard and gardens – what a great feeling to do something out of love for someone else and care for what God has entrusted us to.

H2 SideROOM OF THE MONTH

The reason Theresa Vanhaverbeke contacted Sensational Seams was that she wanted a new, crisp, clean look for her dining room. She was tired of the mini blinds and valance look that covered the window. Wilma worked within her budget and suggested the new
4 ½ in Summerwinds Shutter from Hunter Douglas®. The shutters are maintenance free, guaranteed to never warp, fade, chip or peel, regardless of extreme heat or moist conditions. Placing the divider rail at any level provides light at the top and privacy at the bottom.

“I am really happy with my new shutters. The installation went great, Wilma is really professional. I would recommend Sensational Seams to anyone.” Theresa Vanhaverbeke, Newcastle.

How to Find Design Inspiration

Are you starting a new design project, or looking to redesign a room in your home?  Many homeowners feel overwhelmed and stressed when starting to decorate.  “Where do I start?  What should I do first?”  Often, a homeowner will jump right into furniture shopping or choosing paint colors, but if this is your first step, then you may not end up with the harmonious design that you are hoping for.

In order to create the best outcome, you need to start with an inspiration from which everything else will follow. Your inspiration will be the model for everything you do.

What is a design inspiration? It is anything that gives you the feeling that you want in the room you are decorating. Your inspiration could be literal (a photo or display of a room that you want to model), or it could just be something that inspires you to create you own look.

When searching for design inspiration, here are a few ideas of where to look:

Magazines:
Magazines are great sources of inspiration for designing a home.  But don’t limit yourself to design publications.  Look through fashion magazines, children’s publications, and product catalogs for insight and ideas.

Hotels:
Hotels use the finest designers and architects, so why not use their expertise and creativity?  Look at the colors, furniture, and overall style to inspire your next project.  If you don’t want to travel around the world to check out hotels, you can simply go to the bookstore.  There are many books and guides with photos to inspire you.

Accessory Stores:
One beautiful accessory can speak to you in a big way. You can build an entire room around one piece. Think about what you love about that ornament.  Is it the colors?  The shape?  The overall mood?  Use those elements in your room to create the same feeling.

If you’d like to transform your home with a new look, give me a call to set up a consultation at 905-987-4272.
